چکیده

User modeling can be used to enhance the usability and the accessibility of different human creations intended for use by human beings. Buildings, recreational areas, software, tools, etc, can be adapted or built considering the user needs, capabilities and preferences represented as user profiles. Different approaches have been taken in this field but further research and development is necessary, in particular addressed to consider diverse capabilities persons and how their capabilities influence their preferences. More specifically, one of the main challenges of pedestrian modeling is the absence of a common approach for integrating people with diverse capabilities and functionalities. For example many user profiles are created from different points of view: shopping preferences, psychological profiles, collective behavior and considering many other sources of information for the modeling.

Modeling the Acquisition of Knowledge that Affects Agents’ Emotions

Emotions play an important role in decision-making. Intelligent agents can exhibit emotions using systems based on modal logic. This survey is concerned with research on implementing emotions in agents. One approach is by integrating reactivity, goals, and emotions. Another approach is using cognitive as well as non-cognitive elicitors in generating emotion. Using fuzzy logic and learning techn...

Fuzzy Logic-Based Model That Incorporates Personality Traits for Heterogeneous Pedestrians

Most models designed to simulate pedestrian dynamical behavior are based on the assumption that human decision-making can be described using precise values. This study proposes a new pedestrian model that incorporates fuzzy logic theory into a multi-agent system to address cognitive behavior that introduces uncertainty and imprecision during decision-making. We present a concept of decision pre...

Nurse rostering using fuzzy logic: A case study

In this paper, we used the fuzzy set theory for modeling flexible constraints and uncertain data in nurse scheduling problems and proposed a fuzzy linear model for nurse rostering problems. The developed model can produce rosters that satisfy hospital objectives, ward requirements and staff preferences by satisfying their requests as much as possible. Fuzzy sets are used for modeling demands of...

A Combined Fuzzy Logic and Analytical Hierarchy Process Method for Optimal Selection and Locating of Pedestrian Crosswalks

One of the main challenges for transportation engineers is the consideration of pedestrian safety as the most vulnerable aspect of the transport system. In many countries around the world, a large number of accidents recorded by the police are composed of accidents involving pedestrians and vehicles, for example when pedestrians may be struck by passing vehicles when crossing the street. Carefu...

Fundamental Building Blocks for Vehicle-Pedestrian Interaction in Emergency Evacuations

Evacuations requiring large numbers of pedestrians to evacuate and potentially interact with vehicles are unique in the complexity of interactions that must be understood and in the potentially catastrophic consequences of poor management. On the pedestrian side alone, these events, which may result from a variety of causes including terrorist attacks, bomb threats, and building fires, require ...
